  Capoeira, pronounced 'CapoWayDa' is a self defense based style developed in Brazil in the 18th century. The style resembles a dance/martial art whereby participants learn a combination of movements set to a distinct Brazilian beat. join our instructor for this dynamic and physical class.

  A traditional Japanese style of Karate using hand and foot techniques in forms (kata), self-defense, and sparring. Instruction is given as a means of self-defense, physical exercise and personal development.

  The art of samurai sword or the katana, Japanese Sword/ Iaido emphasizes technique, body posture, concentration, and discipline. Students learn etiquette, drawing, cutting, and sheathing techniques.

  Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a self-defense art that focuses on grappling which positions the defender in advantageous positions, allowing him/her to physically manipulate his/her opponent. The defender does so by applying joint locks and holds, using proper body weight distribution and leverage on the ground.

  Great for self-defense, No Gi Jiu Jitsu mixes a number of grappling styles in the class: wrestling, catch wrestling, sambo and BJJ. The typical Gi (martial arts uniform) slows down movements. With No Gi, the workout is intensive and fast-paced which builds speed and strength.

  Students will obtain a well-rounded understanding of this traditional Northern Shaolin based style. Instruction provides insight into theory and application of Chinese martial technique while emphasizing a distinct stylistic philosophy.

  Kyudo is the 'Way of the Bow'. This subtle art uses the bow and arrow as a mirror of ones' true self. The ultimate goal of kyudo is to cultivate Shin, Zen, Bi (truth, goodness and beauty) not only in your shooting but in everyday life.
 
Information for all Martial Arts Participants: Training uniforms may be required for some classes. Please check with the instructor on the first day of class. Uniforms are available for quarterly rental at Gear Up - $15 basic uniform and $15 for Iaido. * No class on 5/25, 5/26, and 5/27.
