Club Sports Accomplishments 2004- 2005

Badminton

• Henry Ng and Nick Jinadasa take first place of men's doubles at Collegiate Nationals and Nick wins first in Men's Singles
• Successfully hosted a league game here at the ARC with 5 schools

Breakdance

• Organization of a performance team
• 4 man group preformed at the UCI Basketball half-time show
• Performing at numerous other events such as Greek Songfest and VSA Culture Night
• The group has doubled in size

Cricket

• 1st Time in Southern California Winter League
• Finished 2nd place in league losing to West Covina Cricket Club in the finals
• Overall record 5-3, undefeated at home

Cycling

• Mountain race -
• 12th out of 19 teams
• Placed racers in 6 races over 4 race weekends
• 2 nd UCSD par course XC (MB) – Drew Delaney
• 4 th UCSD big bear XC (MB) – Drew Delaney
• 5 racers participated in the season
• Road race –
• 14th out of 20 teams
• Placed racers in 13 races over 6 race weekends
• 1 st, 4 th UCSD RR (WB) – Linda Stiles, Tracy Kubas
• 4 th CPP Crit (MC) – Drew Delaney
• 10 racers participated in the season
• 1st UCI home road race in 6 years

DanceSport

• 2nd place, Team Formation Event at Ohio Star Ball
• 1st place, Pre-Novice, International Latin at Vegas Showdown
• 1st Place, Pre-Novice, International Latin at San Francisco City Lights Ball
• 1st Place, Novice, International Latin at San Francisco City Lights Ball

Field Hockey

• Won 1st game of the season
• Season record 5-5-0
• New uniforms
• New members solving the problem of playing short handed

Hiking

• Trained new trip leaders
• Death Valley Trip – First Overnight Trip for the Club since its inception
• The trip was successful in terms of reaching our goals, group satisfaction, and safety
• Group gained momentum in the transition to backpacking in future activities. Purchased new gear

Ice Hockey

• Regular season standing of 8-0-0
• Increase in fan base and team size
• Beat USC
• Moving up to Division 3 ACHA next year

Men’s Lacrosse

• Won first game of the of the season against Cal Lutheran 23-1
• Undefeated in Texas tournament of which two of the teams were ranked in the top 25
• Ranked 5th in the WCLL B division
• Ranked 15th out of 87 in the nation in the USLMDIA B division
• Ranked 16th out of 87 in coaches poll

Men’s Rugby

• Won more games this year than the past two years combined
• Undefeated preseason
• Successful team trip to Las Vegas
• Many promising new rookies

Men’s Soccer

• Hosted 3rd annual Anteater Invitational with 20 teams
• Competed in league competition in the fall

Men’s Volleyball

• Placed 25th in the nation at Las Vegas Tournament
• Winning record of 4-3 in SCCVL season
• Highest tryout record – 72 players
• New 3rd Degree Sportswear Uniforms

Triathlon

• Built club membership up to the largest number yet this school year
• 3 Triathletes completed at Nationals
• Triathlete from UCI placed second in overall age division at Newport Beach Triathlon

Ultimate Frisbee

Women’s Soccer

• Increased competition against local universities & colleges
• Participated in Spring tournament at the UCLA

Women’s Volleyball

• Hosted annual Friendship Tournament
• Graduating only 2 seniors
• Finished 3rd out of 11 in League
• Placed in the top 5 in three major tournaments
• 3 rd out of 15 in Arizona Wildcat tournament
• 3 rd out of 20 in San Diego State Tournament
• 5 th out of 16 in Davis Tournament
• 9 th out of 40 in Las Vegas Tournament

Wrestling

• Participated as a recreational club this year
• Members competed in and officiated at UCI’s Intramural Tournament in Winter Quarter
