OUTDOOR ADVENTURE TRIPS
Beginning Backpack to Sitton Peak Fees: $50/$75  Date:  Sat, 12/10 - Sun, 12/11 Registration Deadline: Fri, 12/9 REGISTER NOW
  This is the perfect introductory trip for new backpackers. It will give you a hands on opportunity to practice skills you've learned previously or test out your comfort level for new skills. Sitton peak is close to campus and a relatively easy hike with great panoramic views of the coast. We will hike in, spend the night and hike out the next day. It's the perfect way to end fall quarter and develop your new backpacking skills.

This is a carpooling trip. The cost of food is included so that it will be easier to provide for the group. Group gear will be provided but each participant will need their own backpack, sleeping bag and sleeping pad. If you don't have these items they can be rented from the Outdoor Adventures Coordinator. Pre Trip meeting is scheduled for December 8th 7:30pm in ARC Conference room
Outoor Photography Workshop Fees: $30/$45  Date:  Wednesday, 1/18 Registration Deadline: Wed 1/18 REGISTER NOW

  Do you have a sweet camera and wish you know how to use it more like a professional? Join us for a workshop in outdoor photography where you can learn about the settings and functions that will allow you to get the shots that you've always wanted from your camera. Even if you are using your camera phone and you want to know about post production options to improve the quality of your photos you will be smarter for being part of this workshop.
Ortega Falls Rock Climbing Fees: $35/$45  Date:  Sat, 1/21 Registration Deadline: Th 1/19 REGISTER NOW
  This is a great rock climbing spot close to campus. We can spend the day on the rock and have you back to campus for the evening. No experience needed. It's a great spot to climb! We will carpool to the trailhead. Participants are responsible for their own food and water. Be sure to attend the pre trip meeting Thur Jan 19th at 7:30pm in the conference room for final trip details.
LA Urban Adventure Fees: $55/$65  Date:  Sat, 1/28 Registration Deadline: Th 1/26 REGISTER NOW
  We will hike to the iconic Hollywood sign in the beautiful Hollywood hills, explore the walk of fame, visit Griffith Park Observatory for a star party and sample some unique LA eateries. Transportation is provided so bring your walking shoes and your spirit of adventure for an interesting day of outdoorsy LA fun.
Wilderness First AId Fees: $175/$195  Date:  Sat, 2/18 - Sun, 2/19 Registration Deadline: Th 2/16 REGISTER NOW
  Instructor: Doug Tully will emphasize common outdoor situations and conduct numerous practical senarios for students to practice their new first aid skills. Certifying body: American Safety and Health (ASHI) Boy Scout approved course for wilderness first aid Course description: 16 hour course that involves lecture as well as simulations that cover environmental, biological and medical emergencies encountered in wilderness settings.   Another urban adventure so don't wait! Jump on board and be part of the adventure. This time to Joshua Tree National Park for some hiking, fun rock hopping and great photograph opportunities! Coachella Nature Preserve to see an actual desert oasis and Pioneertown are two other fun spots we will visit along the way. Transportation is provided.
Backpacking Workshop - Navigation Fees: $10/$15  Date:  Tu, 2/28 Registration Deadline: Tu 2/28 REGISTER NOW
  This is a great workshop for anyone spending time in the outdoors who needs to know how to read maps and find coordinates to know where they are. We will use a variety of techniches to help you use tools, natural markers, sighting methods and others that will give you the knowledge you need to never be lost!
Echo Cliffs Climbing Fees: $35/$45  Date:  Sat, 3/4 Registration Deadline: Th 3/2 REGISTER NOW
  Echo Cliffs is a fantastic climbing spot in the hills above Malibu. The winter temps will make it green and fabulous! It's also one of my favorite hikes to the climbing in southern Cal. Lots of routes and something for all levels of climbers. Get your friends and let's all go climbing!
Catalina Spring Break & Service Project Fees: $345/$370  Date:  Sun 3/26 - Fri 3/31 Registration Deadline: Th 3/23 REGISTER NOW
  Bring a friend and sign up for best adventure of the year! We will ferry over to Catalina Island and be hosted for 6 wonderful days. We will have the opportunity to snorkel, kayak, hike, swim and even snorkel at night in the amazing coves around Catalina Island. We will also be learning about and helping our hosts preserve the natual grounds of this fragile ecosystem by learning to compost, repair trails, remove invasive plants and many other useful projects. Our meals will be provided by the camp's food service and we will be staying in cabins just a few feet from the ocean. This is the best deal you'll find for Catalina! It's a perfect way t ospend Spring Break isalnd style!
SCUBA - Open Water Certification Fees: $189/ $214   Call 824-3738
  Saturday 1/21 10am - 11:50am Sea Stallions Scuba Center  
       
Description:   SCUBA classes are 7 weeks in length including the orientation, and provide students with an SSI certification. Classes include classroom, pool and ocean dives sessions. All participants will attend a Saturday orientation session for the course they plan to attend. There are 2 pool dives with lessons that require a full day commitment. In addition, ocean dives will take place on Saturdays and Sundays from approximately 7:30am-12:30pm. Students will need to purchase their own personal equipment, that can be purcahsed at Sea Stallions but all other required equipment is included in the class fee. The orientation will take place at Sea Stallions Dive Shop at 21098 Bake Parkway Suite # 108 in Lake Forest at 10am on the Saturday morning listed in the schedule. You may attend the SCUBA orientation without signing up before hand in order to ask questions and understand how the schedule will run. If you have any questions about the class or orientation prior to the orientation or if you plan to attend before registration, please contact the Outdoor Adventure Coordinator, Doug Tully at 949-824-0388 or dtully@uci.edu so that the session is not inadvertently cancelled. Scuba registration is accepted at the ARC Sales Desk (open Monday - Friday 8am-6pm) in person or over the phone at 949-824-3738.
