  Be a leader and get outdoors to do it. UCI's Outdoor Trips program needs you to help deliver our outdoor adventures to UCI's Students, Faculty and Staff. This course will train you to help be an outdoor leader in areas of camping, backpacking, hiking and rock climbing. Students will recieve training skills such as camp craft, wilderness first aid and rock climbing as well as leadership, group dynamics and decision making. If you have ever wanted to work in the outdoors then this is the course for you. It is also a fantastic opportunity to get involved at UCI!

  We will hike to the iconic Hollywood sign in the beautiful Hollywood hills, explore the walk of fame, visit Griffith Park Observatory for a star party and sample some unique LA eateries. Transportation is provided so bring your walking shoes and your spirit of adventure for an interesting day of outdoorsy LA fun.
Registration deadline of Friday October 6th. Be sure to attend our pre trip meeting on Thursday October 5th at 7:30pm in the ARC Conference room to get all the details before we go.
Intro to Backpacking Workshop Fees: $10/$20  Date:  Wed, 10/11 Reg Deadline: Wed 10/11 REGISTER NOW
  If you have wondered about how to start backpacking and wanted to learn more about what steps you need to take then join Outdoor Adventures for this detailed look at backpacking the introductory steps. No experience necessary.
Ortega Falls Climbing Fees: $35/$45  Date: Sat 10/14 Reg Deadline: Th 10/12 REGISTER NOW
  This is a great rock climbing spot close to campus. We can spend the day on the rock and have you back to campus for the evening. No experience needed. It's a great way to try climbing outdoors!
We will carpool. No climbing experience necessary. All climbing gear will be provided for the trip. Pre Trip meeting is scheduled for Thursday October 12th, 7:30pm in ARC Conference room.
Beginning Backpack to Sitton Peak Fees: $50/$75  Dates: 11/11 - 11/2 Reg Deadline: Th 11/9 REGISTER NOW
  This is the perfect introductory trip for new backpackers. It will give you a hands on opportunity to practice skills you've learned previously or test out your comfort level for new skills. Sitton peak is close to campus and a relatively easy hike with great panoramic views of the coast. We will hike in, spend the night and hike out the next day. It's the perfect way to end fall quarter and develop your new backpacking skills. This is a carpooling trip. The cost of food is included so that it will be easier to provide for the group. Group gear will be provided but each participant will need their own backpack, sleeping bag and sleeping pad. If you don't have these items they can be rented from the Outdoor Adventures Coordinator. Pre Trip meeting is scheduled for December 8th 7:30pm in ARC Conference room.
Apple Valley Climbing Fees: $35/$45  Date: Sat 11/18 Reg Deadline: Th 11/16 REGISTER NOW
  "Looking for a new place to climb? Apple Valley has been developing routes! Located in the high desert near Barstow this rock is granite very similar to Joshua Tree. This is a sport climbing area with a pretty short approach so that means it's a good place for beginners to try outdoor rock climbing. Plenty of fun routes for veteran climbers too!
We will carpool. No climbing experience necessary. All climbing gear will be provided for the trip. Pre Trip meeting is scheduled for Thursday November 16th, 7:30pm in ARC Conference room.
SCUBA - Open Water Certification Fees: $189/ $214   Call 824-3738
  Orientation: Sat 10/21 10am - 11:50am Sea Stallions - Lake Forest
Description:   SCUBA classes are 7 weeks in length including the orientation, and provide students with an SSI certification. Classes include classroom, pool and ocean dives sessions. All participants will attend a Saturday orientation session for the course they plan to attend. There are 2 pool dives with lessons that require a full day commitment. In addition, ocean dives will take place on Saturdays and Sundays from approximately 7:30am-12:30pm. Students will need to purchase their own personal equipment, that can be purcahsed at Sea Stallions but all other required equipment is included in the class fee. The orientation will take place at Sea Stallions Dive Shop at 21098 Bake Parkway Suite # 108 in Lake Forest at 10am on the Saturday morning listed in the schedule. You may attend the SCUBA orientation without signing up before hand in order to ask questions and understand how the schedule will run.

Scuba registration is accepted at the ARC Sales Desk (open Monday - Friday 8am-6pm) in person or over the phone at 949-824-3738. The orientation will take place at Sea Stallions Dive Shop at 21098 Bake Parkway Suite # 108 in Lake Forest at 10am on the Saturday morning that your class is scheduled to start. Personal Gear consists of a mask, snorkel, fins, booties and gloves.

  The 2017 UCI Incoming Anteater Adventure will be the first stop toward a successful collegiate experience. It will serve as a starting point for community building, networking and campus engagement. We will camp near A SO-CAL BEACH, paddle in the Newport back bay, Rock climb Ortega Falls and all the while learn MORE about ourselves and our fellow incoming anteaters.
The college transition is an IMPORTANT PERIOD THAT WILL help set you up for success the rest of your life. Start it off WITH THIS OUTDOOR ADVENTURE GEARED ESPECIALLY FOR YOU! We’ll provide the gear, the food and the expertise you need. All you have to do is BRING YOURSELF AND YOUR WILLINGNESS TO LEARN ABOUT YOUR SURROUNDINGS AND PEERS!
