OUTDOOR ADVENTURE TRIPS

  Bring a friend and sign up for best adventure of the year! We will ferry over to Catalina Island and be hosted for 6 wonderful days. We will have the opportunity to snorkel, kayak, hike, swim and even snorkel at night in the amazing coves around Catalina Island. We will also be learning about and helping our hosts preserve the natual grounds of this fragile ecosystem by learning to compost, repair trails, remove invasive plants and many other useful projects. Our meals will be provided by the camp's food service and we will be staying in cabins just a few feet from the ocean. This is the best deal you'll find for Catalina! It's a perfect way t ospend Spring Break isalnd style!
Ortega Falls Rock Climbing Fees: $35/$45  Date:  Sat, 4/8 Registration Deadline: Fri 4/7 Register Now
  This is a great rock climbing spot close to campus. We can spend the day on the rock and have you back to campus for the evening. No experience needed. It's a great spot to climb! The pre-trip meeting will be held on 4/6/16 at 7:30pm in the ARC Conference Room. We will carpool to the trailhead. Participants are responsible for their own food.
Malibu Urban Adventure Fees: $55/$65  Date:  Sat, 4/15 Registration Deadline: Fri 4/14 CANCELLED
  Another urban adventure so don't wait! Jump on board and be part of the fun. This time to the coastline of LA and Malibu. We will hike the beautiful Malibu hills, tour the Getty Villa and get crazy with the locals in Venice. Bring your walking shoes and make sure your camera is charged because there's lots to see on this Urban Adventure! Transportation is provided.The pre-trip meeting will be held on 4/13/16 at 7:30pm in the ARC Conference Room.
Outdoor Photography Workshop Fees: $30/$45  Date:  Wed 4/19 (7-9pm) Location: ARC Team Room Register Now
  Do you have a sweet camera and wish you know how to use it more like a professional? Join us for a workshop in outdoor photography where you can learn about the settings and functions that will allow you to get the shots that you've always wanted from your camera. Even if you are using your camera phone and you want to know about post production options to improve the quality of your photos you will be smarter for being part of this workshop. Make-up session Friday, 4/21.

  Anza Borrego State Park is a fantastic location for all sorts of outdoor photography options. The giant iron sculptures, unique rock formations and petroglighs are amazing features of the park. And as a bonus with any luck there should be numberous wild flowers blooming, a striking sunset and gorgeous dark night skies to make the subject of photographs. And no trip to Anza Borrego would be complete without a stop in Julien for the world famous Julien Apple Pie! Transportation is provided. Pre Trip meeting will be 4/19/17 in the ARC conference room at 7:30pm.
Backpack Workshop Fees: $10  Date:  Th, 4/27 (5-7pm) Location: ARC Classroom CANCELLED
  This unique workshop will be loaded with information on backpacking and travel items. It will focus on gear that you will need, cost- benefit of those items and how best to manage sleep systems, footwear and multiple use items. This is a great workshop for anyone who wants to start backpacking, has questions about backpacking or needs to learn how to be a compact adventure traveler.

Beginners and experienced climbers will have plenty of fun routes to challenge them. On the way home is a sweet stop at Diddy Riese for the best ice cream cookie sandwich you've ever created! You don't want to miss it! The pre-trip meeting will be held on 5/11/16 at 7:30pm in the ARC Conference Room.

  We will hike to the iconic Hollywood sign in the beautiful Hollywood hills, explore the walk of fame, visit Griffith Park Observatory for a star party and sample some unique LA eateries. Transportation is provided so bring your walking shoes and your spirit of adventure for an interesting day of outdoorsy LA fun. Be sure to attend our pre trip meeting on 5/18/17 at 7:30pm in the ARC Conference room to get all the details before we go.
SCUBA - Open Water Certification Fees: $189/ $214   Call 824-3738
  Orientation: Sat 4/22 10am - 11:50am Sea Stallions - Lake Forest
       
Description:   SCUBA classes are 7 weeks in length including the orientation, and provide students with an SSI certification. Classes include classroom, pool and ocean dives sessions. All participants will attend a Saturday orientation session for the course they plan to attend. There are 2 pool dives with lessons that require a full day commitment. In addition, ocean dives will take place on Saturdays and Sundays from approximately 7:30am-12:30pm. Students will need to purchase their own personal equipment, that can be purcahsed at Sea Stallions but all other required equipment is included in the class fee. The orientation will take place at Sea Stallions Dive Shop at 21098 Bake Parkway Suite # 108 in Lake Forest at 10am on the Saturday morning listed in the schedule. You may attend the SCUBA orientation without signing up before hand in order to ask questions and understand how the schedule will run. If you have any questions about the class or orientation prior to the orientation or if you plan to attend before registration, please contact the Outdoor Adventure Coordinator, Doug Tully at 949-824-0388 or dtully@uci.edu so that the session is not inadvertently cancelled. Scuba registration is accepted at the ARC Sales Desk (open Monday - Friday 8am-6pm) in person or over the phone at 949-824-3738.

Information for all Outdoor Adventure Participants: All activities and trips are available for online registration for UCI Students and ARC Members. All other participants may register at Campus Recreation Services (2nd Floor, ARC) or by calling (949) 824-3738.

Anteater Adventure Trip 2017

Anteater Andventure - Summer 2017

  2017 Registration Packet (pdf). Please download and fill out registration form and submit either by email (camprec@uci.edu), fax (949-824-4822), mail (Campus Recreation Services, 680 California Ave, Irvine, CA 92697) or in person.
  The 2017 UCI Incoming Anteater Adventure will be the first stop toward a successful collegiate experience. It will serve as a starting point for community building, networking and campus engagement. We will camp near A SO-CAL BEACH, paddle in the Newport back bay, Rock climb Ortega Falls and all the while learn MORE about ourselves and our fellow incoming anteaters.
The college transition is an IMPORTANT PERIOD THAT WILL help set you up for success the rest of your life. Start it off WITH THIS OUTDOOR ADVENTURE GEARED ESPECIALLY FOR YOU! We’ll provide the gear, the food and the expertise you need. All you have to do is BRING YOURSELF AND YOUR WILLINGNESS TO LEARN ABOUT YOUR SURROUNDINGS AND PEERS!
