| The Department of Campus Recreation through the sailing program offers a complete sailing program including instructional classes, seminars and personal recreational use of the boats. In addition there is a wide variety of sailing activities; racing, night sails, fun sails, evening lectures, social events and more. | |
| Our Classes: The classes are offered through Campus Recreation and get you out sailing right from the start. The beginning level course, Capri 1 is designed for those with little or no experience. This is taught in the protected waters of Newport Harbor . Intermediate and advanced level classes are also offered using our Capri 14.2's, Flying juniors and Shields keelboats. Classes are open to both UCI and other UC students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Spouses/domestic partners of the above are also eligible. All of the above may also sign up a guest to take the class with them. (Guest must be 18 years of age or older). Click here to view the current schedule. | |
Recreational Boat Use and Sailing Association: The Sailing program allows those eligible to use the boats for personal recreational use. This program is offered as a part of the UCI Sailing Association, a club sponsored through Campus Recreation. UCISA membership is open to those eligible for classes (Guests can not be UCISA members). Membership offers almost unlimited use fof the boats and the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of events sponsored by UCISA and the Sailing Program. To obtain boat use privileges you must pass rating tests and then join UCISA. Please visit other pages for complete rating information and rates and fees.
