Stop by Campus Recreation Services (ARC, Monday - Friday, 8am - 6pm) and fill out forms and verifiy eligibility. Shields tests required current Capri rating and current UCISA membership. | ||

Pay the rating test fee when you come in to verify eligibility and take the written test. | ||

Take the written test for your appropriate level. You must successfully complete the written test before practice, tutoring and final sailing skills test. No appointment needed to take the written test at Campus Recreation Services (plan about 1 hour to take the test - must be turned in when they close) or make other arrangements through Joyce Ibbetson. | ||

Once your written test is turned in, it will be graded within 1 week. You will be called or emailed with the results. If you need to retake the test, you may do that once more without re-paying the fees. Once you have been notified that you passed, your practical test or tutor session may be scheduled. Upon successful completion of the practical test, you are ready to actually pay your fees. After passing both tests, pay skipper dues or the rating upgrade fee (shields skippers) and complete UCISA Membership Application. |

Receive quarterly combinations to unlock dock boxes/sails. These are found on your receipt. | ||
| NOTE: your written tests will be kept on file for approximately 1 month. You need to take the practical within that time period. Exceptions will be made for delays due to weather or scheduling conflicts. | |||
