UCISA Membership Ratings: Our rating tests are designed to be sure that those using the boats will be able to safely sail our boats without supervision and will treat them “better than if they were their own”. UCI Ratings apply only to our program and only those eligible for UCISA and planning to join UCISA should take the rating test.

These ratings allow those who have passed them to join UCISA and use the boats within the guidelines. Members have almost unlimited access to the boats, and can take their friends and families out on the boats. Additionally, members may participate in the UCISA events and activities. We encourage our members to support the program as well as sail the boats.

Step by step to getting your UCISA Rating:
  • Taking the written test: Stop by Campus Recreation Services (ARC 2nd floor, 8am - 6pm), pay the rating fee which covers the WRITTEN and PRACTICAL tests, and have eligibility verified.
  • Once test has been graded, you will be contacted to set up your practical test.
  • UCISA members are expected to keep their membership current. Lapses in membership for more than 1 year are subject to re-rating tests to confirm that skills are current.
  • Membership is not pro-rated (except possibly your first quarter of membership)
  • Our fees are kept low, but assume that members keep their memberships year, as the expenses are.
  • All members are to follow the UCISA rules (pdf), given out when members purchase their memberships.
