UCI Campus Recreation - ARC First Floor ARC: 1ST FLOOR
  • Main Gym (MG) - Features a 19,000 square foot gymnasium with the ability to house 3 basketball courts, 3 volleyball courts, or 9 badminton courts. Hanging dividers separate the courts in order for a variety of activities to be offered simultaneously.
  • Back Court Gym (BCG) - This 7,000 square foot gym is unique in design with rounded quarters, team dugouts, and inset goals. These features were designed to accommodate Intramural Sports floor hockey and indoor soccer.
  • Racquetball Courts (RC) - Three, glass-enclosed courts with informal seating and convenience lockers are located off the main hallway.
  • Gear Up (GU) - Specializes in equipment checkout with everything participants might need at teh ARC. Items for checkout range from basketballs to shower towels, and from racquetball racquets to swim goggles. UCI students and ARC members only need their ID to checkout equipment.
  • Wellness Lab (WL) - This weight room has been designed with lifestyle wellness in mind and the equipment is geared towards functional training. The Wellness lab is home to the state-of-the-art Kinesis Circuit Trainig, its unique design allows for over 200 different exercises and an infinite variety of movements. The wellness lab also has over 45 pieces of cardio equipment which face a bank of ten 52" flat screen televisions. In addition there are a variety of free weights available with a range of 2.5 to 50 lbs to accommodate all users.
  • Locker Rooms (WLR/MLR) - Each locker room includes shower and restroom facilities.  Additional amenities include day use lockers and hair dryers.  Locks & towels can be checked out at Gear Up.
  • Aquatics Plaza (AP) - Our 25 yard by 25 meter recreational lap pool is the main attraction of the Aquatics Plaza. The depth of the pool starts at 3 feet in the shallow end to 7 fee in the deep end, and features eight pool lane lines. Kickboards, pull buoys, and other equipment is provided for free.
  • Anteater Rock Wall (AR) - Is an 1100 square foot, 36' high climbing wall located in the ARC Lobby. It is designed to ease in beginners and challege advanced climbers, as our instructors change the location of the routes on the wall each quarter. All participants are encouraged to try the wall.
  • Front Desk (F) - Serves as the entry point for the ARC. All UCI students must show their UCI ID card for entry, and all other members must show their ARC ID card. The Front Desk is also where day passes may be purchased and where visitors must check in.
  • ARC Bar (AB) - Located downstairs in the lobby, the ARC bar provides a variety of treats for participants to purchase.

    Fit Lab (FL) – 10,000 square foot room with free weights, lifting platforms, selectorized machines, cardiovascular training equipment and stretching areas.

  • Campus Recreation Services (CRS) - The 2nd floor Sales Desk is where all activity registration and membership purchases take place.
  • Conference Room (CR) - Designed for Club, Intramural, and staff meetings - has a screen and wipe board to enhance meetings and seminars.
  • Activity Annex (AA) - At 2,300 square feet, the Activity Annex is the main facility for Table Tennis and our Instructional Dance classes. The room features wood flooring and mirrored walls.
  • Physical Forum (PF) - The largest activity room at 2,600 square feet with wood flooring and mirrored walls, the Physical Forum is the main Group Exercise facility for Step, Pump & Sculpt, and Aerobics drop-in classes. It is also home to some Martial Arts and Dance styles.
  • Sports Studio (SS) - Primarily used for Martial Arts, as well as home to Campus Recreation's Wrestling club team, the Sports Studio is ideal for these activities due to the matted flooring. The room also houses four wall-mounted heavy bags, which are popular targets during drop-in times.
  • Jogging (JT) - This 1/11th of a mile jogging track is elevated above the main gym, and is designed to take advantage of the best view inside and outside of the building.
  • Cardio Circuit (CI) - The Hoist resistance training circuit is located on the 2nd floor bridge overlooking the back court gym next to the indoor jogging track. This circuit of ten machines alternates between upper and lower body strength training moves.
  • FitWell Services (FS) - The FitWell Services consist of a variety of services available to the ARC member. There are 2 massage therapy rooms available for private massages with one of our certified massage therapists. The FitWell Services area also houses our state of the art testing room, which includes the Bod Pod for accurate and reliable body composition testing. Additionally we have testing equipment available for sub maximal VO2 testing and Resting Metabolic Rate testing. All of the previous services mentioned are fee for service and can be scheduled at the FitWell Services desk.
  • Training Zone (TZ) - At 1,900 square feet with wood flooring and mirrored walls, the Training Zone is utilzied by Yoga, Kendo, Capoeira, and Belly dance classes.
  • Workout Shop (WS) - At 1,600 square feet with wood flooring and mirrored walls, the workout shop houses Studio Cycling, Massage, and Meditation classes.
  • Kitchen (K)/Classroom (C) - The 1,500 square foot state-of-the-art demonstration kitchen/classroom is equipped with a Wolf double oven, Sub Zero refrigerator, closed circuit video for viewing, large complete island with a Wolf six burner range and grill, large sink, and preparation area. In addition to cooking classes, CPR & 1st Aid, Intramural and Club Sport meetings will be held in the classroom section.
