IM Sports - FAQ
Intramural Sports are recreational sports offered by Campus Recreation that gives the UCI community
(students, faculty, and staff) the opportunity to compete against one another in various sport
leagues and tournaments. League sports include 4 weeks of pool play followed by playoffs for
qualifying teams. Tournaments can be either single elimination, double elimination or quarter-long
formats, depending on the number of entries.
UCI Students, Staff and Faculty with current quarterly ARC Membership are eligible for IM Sports
participation. Spouses/domestic partners are eligible for participation on the same CoRec team as
his/her spouse/domestic partner, but NOT on a separate team or individual tournament.
Alumni, UCI Affiliates, ESL students, students taking UCI extension classes, students from other UC
schools/nearby colleges and community members, even if in possession of a valid ARC Membership, are
NOT eligible to participate in Intramural Sports. Summer league exceptions may apply.
This is most likely because you have not yet paid for the quarterly Intramural Sports Pass, which
must be done through your Fusion account here: Pay for IM Sports Pass. This fee is required from all participants and covers
all participation in any sport for that quarter. This fee is non-refundable.
We recommend first finding a different day/time with open availability to register in – better than
not playing at all!
If there is no other time, you can Waitlist your time of choice. If a Team Captain is not in attendance for the mandatory Manager’s Meeting, we take teams from the Waitlist to fill their spot; or, we potentially open up a brand new day/time if there are enough Waitlisted teams (based on facility and time availability).

You can see our sports offerings at www.campusrec.uci.edu/im/ for the
quarter, as well as create an account to view the sport listings at www.imleagues.com/uci. On IMLeagues, you can create your own teams with
friends, sign up for individual tournaments, or register as a free agent for specific sports (if
offered).
You can also apply to work as an Intramural Sports official. Working as an official is the best way to get involved with Campus Recreation. You meet great people, get to work on-campus, have the opportunity to move up to the position on IM Supervisor and beyond, and get a job in what we are all passionate about – SPORTS! You must attend the Fall Officials Orientation meeting to be considered, but we are always looking for quality officials to join our staff.

All of our league and tournament offerings are "Open" designation, meaning all levels are welcomed.
We offer Men's-only, Women's-only and CoRec leagues (males and females) to all participants.
Playoffs are separated into "Gold" (A) and "Blue" (B) playoff brackets in most league sports.
The Team Captain is the person who registers the team in the sports of choice prior to the
applicable deadline. The Team Captain is responsible for ensuring that all teammates pay the
individual Intramural Sports Pass fee for the quarter, as well as attending the mandatory Manager’s
Meeting. The Team Captain is required to disseminate all important sport and handbook information to
all teammates, and act as the liaison between the Intramural Sports Staff and the team he/she is
managing.
Sports will now have two playoff brackets (pending the number of teams), "Gold" bracket and "Blue"
bracket. The position of these brackets will be based on these 4 criteria in order: Winning %, Head
to Head, Sportsmanship, and Point Differential. The amount of teams that make it into playoffs is
contingent on the number of teams registered per league. This number will be announced during the
manager's meetings at the beginning of each season.
All Intramural Sports policies, specific sport rules and the IM Handbook are posted on IMLeagues.
