ARC Membership Rate FAQ's

Membership rates for the Anteater Recreation Center will increase for the first time since 2022. Membership options will include a 30-day pass, 3-month pass, autopay (monthly recurring credit card charge) membership, and for our UCI staff/faculty members, payroll deduction membership. Group fitness classes will be included in non-student memberships. A few important notes:
  • If your current membership, start date before September 14, 2026, expires on or after January 4, 2027, you will not be assessed the new rates until you renew your membership.
  • If you are starting a new membership on or after September 14, 2026, you will be assessed the new rates.
  • New memberships include patrons who have never purchased a membership at the ARC.
  • If you have a current payroll deduction membership start date before September 14, 2026, you will be assessed the new rate at your next billing date on or after January 4, 2027.
  • If you are starting a new payroll deduction membership on or after September 14, 2026, you will be assessed the new rate.

If you wish to continue your ARC membership, noting these increases, no further action is necessary on your part. If you have a payroll deduction membership and would like to cancel, we will void the one-year minimum commitment.

If you would like to cancel your payroll deduction membership start date before September 14th, please submit the payroll change form no later than November 30, 2026. We will void the current one-year minimum commitment.

  • The Anteater Recreation Center is committed to providing a high-quality recreation and wellness experience for our members. Since our last membership rate adjustment in 2022, operating costs have increased across many areas, including facility maintenance, equipment replacement, utilities, technology, and staffing.
  • This rate adjustment will help us continue to maintain our facilities, invest in equipment and programs, support student employment opportunities, and provide the services and experiences our members expect. We carefully evaluated current rates, as well as rates in the area, and worked to keep increases as reasonable as possible while ensuring the long-term sustainability of the facility and its programs.

Yes. Non-student members will gain access to group fitness classes at no additional cost. Although this change will take effect at the same time as the new membership rates, it was developed independently of the rate adjustment. The updated rates help ensure the continued operation and enhancement of the ARC's facilities, programs, and services.

If you are a current member, the new rates will take into effect on January 4, 2027. If you are a new member, the new rates will begin on September 14, 2026.

Yes, if you enroll in autopay, your card that you authorize to put on file will be charged monthly. Autopay memberships require a 3-month commitment. Members who enroll in autopay agree to maintain their membership for a minimum of 3 months.

Yes, for our UCI staff/faculty members, if you enroll in payroll deduction, your paycheck will automatically be deducted for your membership. Payroll deduction memberships require a 3-month commitment. Members who enroll in payroll deduction agree to maintain their membership for a minimum of 3 months.

  • Half-price family memberships will discontinue effective September 14, 2026 for new members, and January 4, 2027 for current members.
  • Staff/faculty members will also able to purchase memberships online now. To do so, please log in with your UCI net ID. For payroll deduction memberships, please visit the Sales Desk in person.

  • For staff/faculty members, if you are purchasing an online membership and have purchased a day pass within the last 7 days, please contact camprec@uci.edu prior to purchasing a membership to get the day pass deducted from your membership cost.
